August 2005 JWDA Wins Competition to Design New Hotel in Shanghai Shanghai, China -- JWDA was selected by Jin Jiang Group / Shanghai through a invitation only International Design Competition to create the design for their new 450 guestroom hotel tower expansion to the Sofitel JJ Oriental Hotel. This luxury five-star hotel development is located in Pudong, Shanghai, overlooking the beautiful Century Park and the Lujiazui financial district. The new 400,000 square-foot hotel tower consists of 300 deluxe rooms and 150 luxury suites, ready for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. Other tower amenities include new public and function space consisting of chic restaurants, bars and executive lounges as well as large banquet facilities, sumptuous function spaces and meeting rooms. The new tower is linked to the existing 47-story hotel tower with an Asian garden, incorporating elements such as water features and regional landscaping traditions. The tower will start construction in early 2006 with an expected completion date in 2008.
