San Marcos, CA -- In a teaming effort with Soltek Pacific, Joseph Wong Design Associates (JWDA) was awarded the design/build project for a new $19.2 million, 70,000 square-foot North County Regional Education Center (NCREC) located on Pico Avenue and Mission Avenue in San Marcos. The project owner is a Joint Powers Authority (JPA) of San Marcos Unified School District (SMUSD) and the San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE).
The project has two distinct uses: SDCOE educational facilities for 9th through 12th grade students plus training and administrative components, and SMUSD administrative offices. JWDA and Soltek Pacific team were selected based on a “best value” evaluation of the Design/Build design, project administration, and cost proposal for the project. The selection process is based on design and the proposal competition.
The Joseph Wong Design Associates team includes Brian Hansen RA, Pete Rose AIA, Joseph Wong FAIA, and Ben Harber, Leed Certified. Soltek Pacific’s team includes Jimmy Summers, Steve Thompson, and Steve Mueller AIA, Design Manager. Other team members include: Flores Lund/Structural Engineers, RBF/Civil Engineering, ILA Zammit/Electrical Engineers, HVAC/Mechanical Engineering, and Ron Teshima/Landscape Architects.
The project will start construction in spring of 2005 and the projected completion date is early 2006.
