Hotel and Residential Mixed-Use Development Gains Commitment from the City of Escondido

Escondido, CA -- The Escondido City Council has agreed unanimously to move forward on a new mixed-use project in downtown. The development team, C.W. Clark Inc. and Phelps Management Team, and the city have reached an agreement scheme on a proposed 197-room Marriott Hotel and 142 condominium residential project over a three-story parking garage. The full-service hotel will be built on a 1.39-acre parcel located between the California Center for the Arts and Entertainment and Escondido City Hall and the design would take its cue from the Mediterranean vernacular as expressed by the two adjacent buildings.

The mixed-use development with an estimated cost of $105.2 million is scheduled to begin construction in 2006 with a projected completion date of 2007. JWDA is the design architect for this project.
