| February 2011 Groundbreaking for new Hilton Carlsbad oceanfront resort & spa CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, U.S.A. -- Wave Crest Oceanfront LLC held the groundbreaking ceremony for the New Hilton Carlsbad Oceanfront Resort & Spa on January 21, 2011. Located in the heart of old downtown Carlsbad, the newest luxury resort in the city will have 215 contemporary Craftsman-style guestrooms (including one- and two-bedroom suites), a fine-dining facility, meeting facilities, a health club and a full service spa -- all located within steps of the beach and the popular downtown Carlsbad Village area. The resort will feature first-class dining at Chandler's Restaurant & Lounge, a state-of-the-art PRECOR health club, and a full service spa with a swimming pool and private cabanas open to both guests and Carlsbad residents. The three-story structure allows the full-service hotel to accommodate both business travelers and vacationers while the lushly landscaped 8-acre parcel ensures a quiet and gracious retreat for all guests. JWDA is proud to have worked with Wave Crest Oceanfront LLC in providing full architectural services for this luxury resort. The JWDA project team includes Rick Rounds, AIA, Michael Tria, Edward Natanauan and Joseph Wong, FAIA. Other design team members included DCI Engineers (structural), Robison Engineering (mechanical, plumbing and electrical) and Spurloc Poirier (landscape architecture). This new Hilton Resorts project will be completed in Fall 2012.
