Joseph Wong Appointed to Public Art Committee

San Diego, California -- Designers, professors of art, curators, writers and critics, artists, activists, and people of eminence within the local arts community have comprised the membership of the City of San Diego Public Art Committee. The annual appointments ensure a diverse and ever changing representation of a multitude of viewpoints. The members of the committee advise the Commission for Arts and Culture policies, procedures and general issues pertaining to public art as well as make recommendations on various issues that come before the committee. Joseph Wong, the founder of Joseph Wong Design Associates, will join the committee in 2010.

The Commission for Arts and Culture has overseen the installation of more than 30 pieces of public art within the last eight years. Many of these projects add a special flavor to the City of San Diego, delivering an unexpected experience of art among the quotidian landscape. In the design and construction of the local Hotel Indigo, JWDA has had the pleasure of working with artist Lisa Schirmer on the installation of "Indigo Waters" – a 40-foot exterior wall sculpture. The firm is currently working with artist Payne White on an installation of proposed art for the North Embarcadero Visionary Plan.
