CCDC Approves Hotel/Mixed-Use Project in Downtown

San Diego, California -- A new project located at 719 Ash between 7th Avenue and 8th Avenue in the Cortez neighborhood of Downtown San Diego has gained design approval from the Centre City Development Corporation (CCDC). The proposed 260,000 square-foot project redevelops an aging property in the northern part of the city, bringing in small retail that respects the character of the locale. The mixed-use project will be composed of a building that ranges from 7- to 18-stories, accommodating two hotels with a total of 328 rooms with retail and restaurant space on the lower levels and penthouse suites within the tower. A 4-level subterranean garage will provide parking for guests and visitors. In addition, the building will have eco-roofs at varying heights, which will soften the views from neighboring buildings. A lushly landscaped pool deck with large walking paths will offer guests an opportunity to stroll through a 'garden in the sky'.

BF Hospitality is the owner/developer. Joseph Wong Design Associates provides comprehensive architectural services. Swinerton serves as Construction Manager. The two hotels will run independently, offering upscale hotel accommodations serviced under a Hilton Hotels franchise agreement with Hilton Garden Inns and Homewood Suites. Construction is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2008.
