JWDA Architects Helps Shape the Future of High Street Village
JWDA is pleased to help lay the groundwork for a new neighborhood taking shape in San Diego’s University City, as recently introduced in the San Diego Union Tribune.
High Street Village will transform the former Costa Verde Center site into a mixed-use urban neighborhood designed around a walkable main street inspired by Little Italy’s India Street. Plans for the development, located across from Westfield UTC, call for a mix of residential uses, ground-floor shops and restaurants, and public spaces connected to the UC San Diego Blue Line trolley platform.

As part of the master planning process, JWDA Architects developed the site map, dividing the 12.6-acre property into 13 blocks to establish a framework for future development. This approach helps organize the site into a cohesive neighborhood while allowing individual blocks to be developed in phases. The vision is a more connected, pedestrian-friendly destination that brings housing, retail, transit, and public spaces together in one place.
We’re pleased to contribute to the planning of this ambitious project and help shape the next chapter of University City!
